I am a painter, printmaker and teacher, practising and exploring the visual and technical disciplines of paint and ink, whilst teaching art to a wide range of adult learners throughout the West Sussex county.

My art illustrates a diverse interest in various pictorial disciplines, from tradition oil painting, to various (self-taught) traditional etching styles - aquatint, dry point, sugarlift - and newer printmaking media - kitchen lithography and the Gelli-Plate. I have generated a number of themed portfolios on this site demonstrating a curiosity for each medium’s unique plastic qualities and limitations, often resulting in fresh graphic tensions and material dynamics.

It is essential that all undertakings are created in front of the subject to be ‘represented’. This engagement is a kind of ‘dialogue’ or ‘exchange’ that is time-bound, imposing both a sense of urgency and decision-making. I do not return to any painting or print to modify its appearance, believing all intentions and material properties are absolute final statements after their often brief and intense execution.
